Why...

Why…

Why people do like that?

When they do something else,

But different is their thought?

They say life is a journey,

which should follow your heart

So when it comes to choosing the special one

Why does money come in, tearing your inner voice apart?

Sometimes you find something that you do with passion

But you follow the words that wise men once said

Does it have to be everybody’s aim

To graduate, marry, procreate and be dead?

May be marriage is a beautiful thing

You should spend life with somebody you love

But why can’t someone follow some obscure thread of passion?

Isn’t that a chance the person does deserve?

Aren’t you curious about your own existence?

Why, when, what, where and how?

And they beat you down, break your nose

“These are the rules you must follow!”

In my school I loved the class of science

“Ms. Shaila is a good teacher”; was my notion,

I was curious about the trapped air inside an inverted immersed cup

And I apparently had asked a ridiculous question

One should be as curious as a child

They say…

When the child asks why there must be a god

Why do they shut him up n tell him to just pray?

“Don’t follow that path, that path is bad”

“I tell you my son, doing that thing is not decent!”

But isn’t opinion a matter of personal perception?

Why not let him have his own judgment?

A child is a brand new note book

Alright, discipline is must to turn it in a good novel

But after dropping him to the bus stand

Why not let him go to wherever he wants to travel?

But again, it’s just my opinion

You decide what you want to take

May be it’s a big disaster

An honest fool’s mistake!

  1. You'll love what Henry David Thoreau had to say, read his book named Walden.

He said 'marriage would be a foe for his career'
    what was his career?
to think, to write, to simplify.

His thought seemed outrageous to me, since I am of a different opinion than he is, on that topic. But its a good question to ask in this regard as to why we do the same old things again n again, graduate, procreate, die, etc?

But to try and answer that question, do we really understand why we are able to ask that question. Do we really know what evolution has given us & at what cost?

Being in love, is not just a social thing, but also an evolutionary necessity. I personally haven't found anything so obscure as the feeling of love itself.

Curiosity is awesome, we must thrive on it, but sometimes I channelize it in a different direction. Curiosity is again, very relative, since what we are curious about others may not be. This brings the classic conflict, "how can someone not like this?" or "how can someone not be driven/moved by this?" Our vessels of curiosity must be, by nature, dissimilar than everybody else. If everyone is curious about the same thing, then there wont be anything left to be curious about it.

    That's just my opinion, man.

  2. About the last para: Absolutely agree with the point about everybody being curious abt same thing.

I also agree on the 'evolutionary necessity' aspect. Well, partially. Reasons:

    1. By not getting into this, that person might be able to do something which might just create some 'revolutionary'. Chance factor i m talking abt. Nothing's impossible. I am not saying he will necessarily invent something which will totally eliminate the need of sexual reproduction, for example, but might just create something which will help the world immensely in some other way.

    2. And even if evolutionary trend says something, even if he's here himself because of the same, what if still he wants to pursue something totally different? He might just say: Ok, i m here because of something, bt tht wasn't in my hand. That doesn't mean i MUST do something back in the SAME manner. I respect the evolution, but i have something else in my mind.

He might just have a different personality. And i think we should respect that.

As you rightly said at the end, after all everything's jus an opinion. :)

Evolution to me is a fairly gradual process acted upon by various external factors and our individual psychological make-up. To me it really is bizarre when people are expected to do certain things because..well, just because!!! Aren't we all different with totally different needs and priorities?
We obviously can't disparage the stability that the social institutions provide, but does it mean we give up our right to think?
Loved the poem Alok!!! NICE... :)
